I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, ever since fifth grade when I realized its freedom, its way of escaping my complicated life. The first story I remember writing was a Halloween story; I put my friends in it because I’ve always loved having a community around me. It had something to do with a haunted house, and a graveyard, and I’ve been exploring these dark places and taking my readers along with me ever since.
I teach writing and learning skills classes north of San Francisco, California, yearn for the beach, and read whenever I can. I have a wonderful wife named Sarah, who brings beauty and stability to my life daily.
As a creative consultant, I orchestrate interesting get-togethers for poets, writers, and other creative types. I’m in the process of expanding these to a larger community through workbooks and classes around wordplay and storytelling.
